La Estrella Resplandeciente
In English - En Espanol

La Estrella  Resplandeciente ("The Shining Star") meets on Saturdays, 10:00am-1:00pm, in our church building in Stanhope.  We provide transportation to and from the church. We kick things off in the morning with a time of fellowship, prayer, praise and worship songs, and an interactive time of learning about people, stories, and lessons from the Bible.

After this we break into groups that usually divide their time among activities such as soccer, kickball, computer and board games, and art projects.  Our volunteers also provide other services like assistance with homework and ESL tutoring.

In the early afternoon we serve the children lunch, typically pizza and fruit drinks or another meal sponsored generously by a local church.

Throughout the year, and especially during the summer, we sponsor field trips for the children.  In the past we have attended local baseball games, visited museums and planetariums, and participated in local community social events.

We hope that you or your child will consider joining us soon!

If you are interested in participating in La Estrella, volunteering, or sponsoring a meal, please contact Pastor Lucho or the Duke intern using the contact information on this page!

*Fluency in Spanish is not necessary to volunteer!

La Estrella provides an intentional and personal approach to spiritual formation in an unique environment. We do this by celebrating the gift of God's diversity and creation in every person, by helping youth recognize their worth and place in the Kingdom of God, and we have a lot of fun in the process! If you are interested in participating and/or would like to know more about us then please give Lucho or Jonathan a call or send us an email.

Also, if you are interested in connecting with this program in order to volunteer, help out in any way, or just visit then please feel free to contact Lucho or Jonathan. You may also visit the VOLUNTEER SIGN-UP SITE. The program is run almost entirely in English and so you don’t need to speak Spanish!

“Let no one despise you for your youth, but set the believers an example in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith, in purity”
(1 Tim 4.12).
